MARS is committed to helping pets in need whenever possible, including all breeds and ages. MARS does not have a shelter facility for boarding, but rather is a foster-based rescue group that runs on the support and aid of dedicated volunteers and supporters. Their fostered pets live in homes, as family members, receiving all of the love and care they would in an adoptive home, until they are adopted. The adopters gain greater insight into the pets’ behavior and personality than they would with an animal who has been living in a kennel, and the pet is better prepared for a loving home life. This helps produce the best match possible for the new families, resulting in a 99% success rate!
Ruff Start Rescue is a foster home-based, non-profit 501(c)(3), no-kill dog and cat rescue based in central Minnesota. They rescue stray, neglected, abandoned, and surrendered dogs and cats as well as ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits, and other critters. They work very hard to place them in new loving homes.
Ruff Start Rescue operates largely through volunteers and donations, relying on social media to stay connected. The more than 600 volunteers working with the rescue transport animals, serve as foster families, coordinate adoptions and much more. Without them and their countless hours of service, Ruff Start Rescue could not exist.
